The Faculty of Medicine of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University was founded in 1994 based on the Decree of the Rector of Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University No. 79 dated 15 June 1994.

The aims of the Faculty of Medicine are to cultivate physicians, researchers and health science specialists who not only have knowledge and technical skills in the medical and health sciences but also acquire medical ethics, and who can flexibly cope with advances in medical science.

The Faculty also strives to contribute to advances in medical treatments and the improvement of health and welfare, and to develop as an academic institution with a good regional and international outlook. Additionally, the Faculty is always endeavoring to engage in academic exchange and medical and health cooperation with countries near and far abroad.

Academic Process

The Faculty of Medicine provides its students advanced medical training programmes to specialize in one of the following areas:

  • General Medicine (Allied Health)
  • Pediatrics
  • Denstistry

The academic process at the Faculty of Medicine is strictly organized in compliance with the State Educational Standards of both Russian Federation and Kyrgyz Republic. All residency training and internship programmes offered by the Faculty of Medicine for its graduate students are organized in accordance with the state education standards and programmes on the medical specialists that approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of the Russian Federation.

Graduates of the Faculty of Medicine get diplomas of two states- the Russian Federation and the Kyrgyz Republic. All of them after the graduation from the university continue their postgraduate education in internship, residency, and some – in graduate school in Russia’s educational programs.

General Medicine (Allied Health)

Language of instruction: English

The department has the following disciplines:

  • faculty therapy (4 th year students, specialties “medical business”)
  • Hospital therapy (students 5-6 courses, specialties “medical business”)
  • polyclinic therapy (6th year students “medical case”)
  • “standards of diagnosis and treatment of internal diseases” (students of the 6th year, specialties “medical business”)
  • CIPO (Center for Integrative and Practical Training) 4-5-6 course.

In addition, the department fixed the passage of production practice for students of the 4th course “Assistant hospital doctor” – section “Therapy”. At the students of the 5 course “Assistant doctor APU”.

The department trains clinical residents in the following programs: therapy, cardiology, nephrology and functional diagnostics.

Pediatrics and Dentistry

The list of original multimedia materials developed by the staff of the department:

  • Lectures on the courses of propaedeutic of internal diseases, endocrinology, hospital therapy and occupational diseases
  • Presentation of reports at scientific conferences and reports.
  • Bank of video clips on propaedeutic of internal diseases. Video clips – examination of patients with atypical and rare diseases.
  • Computer slides for demonstration in lectures and practical exercises.
  • Electronic manual “Auscultation of the lungs” “Heart sounds in norm and pathology”.
  • Adaptation of third-party computer programs for the educational process at the medical faculty (on cardiology, pulmonology, gastroenterology).

In total for the period of activity of the faculty 1398 – doctors-medical institutions, 411 – pediatricians and 1074 – stomatologists have been prepared.

In 1994 there was only one department of biomedical and medical-psychological disciplines at the faculty. At present, the faculty includes:

  • Dental Clinical Training Center;
  • Preparatory courses for foreign students;
  • 5 educational-methodical laboratories:
  • inter-departmental training laboratory of new technologies for teaching medical disciplines;
  • laboratory complex of organic and inorganic chemistry;
  • laboratory of clinical biochemistry;
  • laboratory of experimental modeling of pathological processes.
  • 3 educational and methodical classrooms.

In 2000 at the initiative of the faculty’s staff, the Branch of the Russian Medical Association in Kyrgyzstan was opened, so that the KRSU has the opportunity to keep abreast of all aspects of the process of reforming the health care system in Russia. The faculty is also a collective member of the Eurasian Medical Union, and in 2015, was admitted to the Association of the Council of Rectors of Medical and Pharmaceutical Higher Educational Institutions of the Russian Federation. KRSU is one of the co-founders of the Association of Medical Universities of the Kyrgyz Republic (together with KGMA and OshGU).
